Is sodium copper chlorophyllin the same as chlorophyll?

Chlorophyll is one of the most widely distributed natural pigments on earth and is mainly found in green plants. Chlorophyll is a porphyrin compound that plays an important role in photosynthetic reactions of plants and microorganisms. It has two structures a and b. Chlorophyll is unstable and insoluble in water. For convenience, it is often made into sodium copper chlorophyllin.

Sodium Copper Chlorophyll PropertiesChlorophyll Powder-Bovlin

Dark green powder with a slightly metallic luster, odorless or slightly special ammonia-like odor, hygroscopic, and stable to light and heat. Soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol and chloroform, slightly soluble in ether and petroleum ether. The aqueous solution is a blue-green clear and transparent liquid. When calcium ions exist, there will be precipitation.

How to Prepare Chlorophyllii Powder?

Raw material → leaching → filtration → concentration → saponification → separation → acid adjustment → copper generation → suction filtration → salt formation → drying → finished product

1.After the raw materials are pulverized, they are leached, and organic solvents are often used for leaching, supplemented by stirring, and the constant temperature is maintained at about 70 °C. The process generally lasts 3-4h. The organic solvent can be acetone, butanol, dichloromethane, ethanol, petroleum ether, isopropanol, trichloroethylene, etc. Generally 95% ethanol solution is used. After leaching, a dark green solution is obtained by filtration, and the leaching solution is usually concentrated before saponification.

2.Saponification is to remove methyl and chlorophyll ester groups. Add NaOH to the concentrated solution and stir at about 70 °C for about 1 h. After cooling, extract with petroleum ether to remove impurities such as lutein and carotene.

3.Separated petroleum ether, saponified solution, adjusted pH value to 2-3 with concentrated hydrochloric acid to prepare copper generation. Add CuSO4 solution, stir at constant temperature around 70°C for a period of time, cool, let stand, and then suction filter to obtain crude product. The precipitate was washed once with distilled water, 40% ethanol and petroleum ether.

4.Dissolve the precipitate with acetone, add 5% NaOH ethanol solution dropwise to pH=12, and precipitate sodium copper chlorophyll. Suction filtration and drying of the solid to obtain the product.

Features: This method is a general process method and easy to implement.

What is Sodium Copper Chlorophyllin Used For?

Sodium copper chlorophyll is a derivative of chlorophyll, it has many uses, it can be used as a green pigment, deodorant, and it also has medical value.buy chlorophyll powder-Bovlin

1. Chlorophyll copper sodium salt is a water-soluble, safe and non-toxic natural food coloring LD50>10000mg/kg (mice orally) ADI is 0 ~ 15mg/kg (FAO/WHO 1980 regulations). The pH value of 1% aqueous solution is 9.5-10.2 copper ion does not exceed 50PPM. It can be used for fruity water, soda, wine, candy, canned food, red and green silk, cakes, etc. In addition, is also widely used as the base color of cosmetics and colorant of toothpaste.

2. The pharmaceutical industry agrees that it is necessary to add some new varieties of pigments with low toxicity and good stability. Chlorophyll copper sodium salt meets this requirement. Coating on green-based tablets, with bright green color, good stability, and good results, is ideal. Chlorophyll copper sodium salt is used as the coating colorant of Shenqi Schisandra, and the dosage is 1.5-2g per 50Kg substrate. Keep the sample for one year for observation, no fading, contamination, mottle and other phenomena. Compared with the newly-coated tablet, the appearance is completely the same. Compared with other pigments, the dosage is greatly reduced and the cost is lower.

3. Chlorophyll copper sodium salt can be used for deodorization of beverage alcohol (94%-95%), that is, adding 10mg/kg of this product during refining, and then adding activated carbon to remove it.

4. Studies have shown that chlorophyll copper sodium salt or its derivatives are easily absorbed by the human body, have the effect of promoting metabolism on body cells, and can also promote the healing of gastrointestinal ulcers and the recovery of liver function. It can be used to treat infectious hepatitis, gastric and duodenal ulcers, hemorrhoids, uterine diseases, chronic nephritis and acute pancreatitis, and it can also improve hematopoietic function and promote the recovery of radiation-damaged organisms. Also used in surgery to treat burns.

Sodium copper chlorophyll is a derivative of chlorophyll, it comes from plants, it is a "green product", and it is increasingly used in food, cosmetics and medicine. China is rich in green plant resources and is a big mulberry producing country. We can use different methods to produce according to different raw materials and different technical requirements. Due to the low price of raw materials, simple extraction and manufacturing process, and less investment in equipment. So it will have a very good development and application prospects.
