Roman chamomile (Latin name: Anthemis nobilis) is a perennial plant of the Compositae family, with a strong aroma, white petals and yellow center. The origin of chamomile is Europe. At present, the main producing areas around the world are North America, Bulgaria, Belgium, Egypt, the United Kingdom, etc. There are also a large number of cultivation in Yili, Xinjiang, my country. Using the flowers of Roman chamomile as raw material, the oil yield of the essential oil extracted by distillation method is about 1.7% (the oil yield of German chamomile is only about 0.4%). Chamomile flowers can be used as medicinal ingredients, and can also be used to make tea with their dried flowers. Chamomile extract has a variety of biological activities and is widely used in perfumes, skin care products, and daily chemicals.
According to Calpepo, the Egyptians sacrificed this herb to the sun because chamomile was a heat cure, and other texts refer to it as a lunar herb because of its cooling effect.
