What is Bromelain?

Bromelain is derived from the stem of the plant pineapple. It is a general term for a class of hydrolytic proteases, which is composed of a variety of enzymes with different molecular weights and molecular structures. At the same time, bromelain also belongs to a class of glycoproteins, which contain mannose, fucose, xylose and acetylglucosamine. Bromelain is a sulfhydryl proteolytic enzyme, so it has the biological activity of hydrolyzing protein, and its ability to hydrolyze protein is more than 10 times higher than that of papain. Bromelain is widely used in functional cosmetics as a cosmetic raw material, and is often added to exfoliating cosmetics.

Pineapple fruit is rich in nutrients: vitamins, glucose, fructose, citric acid, protease, etc. Pineapple has both edible and medicinal value, and the nutrients in pineapple fruit have good pharmacological effects. Therefore, the extracts of pineapple fruit, peel, stem and other parts are widely used in the fields of medicine, health care products and cosmetics.

Pineapple Enzyme Bromelain Functions

1. Prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease

Bromelain inhibits heart attacks and strokes caused by platelet aggregation, relieves symptoms of angina, eases arterial constriction, and accelerates the breakdown of fibrinogen.

2. For burn and scab removal

Bromelain can selectively exfoliate the skin so that new skin transplantation can be carried out as soon as possible.

3. Anti-inflammatory effect

Bromelain is effective in treating inflammation and edema in various tissues and has the potential to activate inflammatory responses. It can also treat diarrhea.

4. Improve drug absorption

Combining bromelain with various antibiotics can improve its efficacy. Facilitates the delivery of antibiotics at the site of infection, thereby reducing the amount of antibiotics administered.

5. Bromelain can act on the aging stratum corneum of human skin, promote its degradation, decomposition and removal, promote skin metabolism, and reduce the phenomenon of dark skin caused by sun exposure. Make the skin maintain a good white and tender state.

6. Adding bromelain to the feed formula or directly mixing it in the feed can greatly improve the utilization rate and conversion rate of protein, and can develop a wider protein source, thereby reducing the cost of feed.

Applications of bromelain powder

1.Bromelain is used in baked goods and meat in the food processing industry.

2. Widely used in medicine and health care products.

3. The application in the beauty and cosmetics industry has excellent effects of skin rejuvenation, whitening and spot removal.

How to use bromelain?

Bromelain is commonly used as an exfoliating ingredient and skin conditioning agent in various cosmetic products, such as exfoliating sleeping masks, facial cleansers, exfoliating gels, and more.

Precautions:

Bromelain is easily inactivated by heavy metal ions and oxidants, and contact with these substances should be avoided.

Bromelain will be inactivated during storage over time, and the loss rate of enzyme activity is 5-10% when stored below 10°C within 6 months. %), so it should be stored in a dark, moisture-proof, sealed low-temperature (below 10°C) environment.
