Beta-carotene (C40H56) is one of the carotenoids, an orange-yellow fat-soluble compound, which is the most ubiquitous and stable natural pigment in nature. A member of the family of natural chemicals such as carotenes or carotenoids. It is found in abundance in plants, giving fruits and vegetables their rich yellows and oranges. The pure product is a reddish purple to dark red crystalline powder with a slight peculiar odor.
