Pomegranate extract is prepared from the peel and seeds of the pomegranate the family Punicaceae. Pomegranate peel extract contains punicalagins, ellagic acid and pomegranate polyphenols, etc.
The main active ingredients are tannins and alkaloids. Tannins include retrogallic acid and gallic acid (Gallic acid), the most important being Ellagic acid (EA); alkaloids include Pelletierine, Isopelletierine, and Pseudopelletierine.
1. Antibacterial effect: Pomegranate peel extract has significant antibacterial effect on Shigella, Typhoid Bacillus, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, etc., and has a better inhibitory effect on Staphylococcus aureus.
2. Antifungal effect: The pomegranate peel water infusion is diluted in a test tube, 1:4 against 10 kinds of dermatophytes such as Trichophyton violaceum, Epidermophyton rubrum, Microsporum audulanum and Nocardia stelae. Dermatophyte fungi have inhibitory effects.
3. Antiviral effect: Experiments have shown that pomegranate peel decoction can still inhibit influenza virus (type A Chemicalbook PR3 strain) when diluted to 1:10000-1:100000.
4. Deworming effect: Pomegranate has a strong killing power on tapeworms, and can act on the muscles of the worms, causing them to fall into continuous contraction. Pomegranine hydrochloride at a concentration of 1:10000 kills tapeworms after 5 to 10 minutes.
5. Other effects: Pomegranate peel extract can significantly increase the zinc content and lecithin body density in prostate tissue, reduce the number of leukocytes in prostate tissue homogenate and the activity of plasma acid phosphatase, and can improve the antioxidant capacity index of plasma. Pomegranate peel extract has inhibitory effect on non-bacterial prostatitis and bacterial prostatitis in rats.
